COME THE NEW YEAR
Soon we approach a new year
Some will do so with beer
Making it their form of cheer
Others will toast on kheer
With some angelic peer
In a Vaikuntha atmosphere
Singing mantras to the ear
To shed a joyful tear
It's the name we do revere
Diminishing mundane fear
The negative to disappear
Allowing us to get near
The One who is so dear
Who responds to those sincere
So at this time of year
Folks start to volunteer
To bhakti they adhere
Following the wise, the austere
Avoiding Kali yuga's smear
For the heart and mind to clear
To be patience/persevere
So don't jump off the pier
But look into the mirror
Soon will come the new year
