Ramsden Park, Toronto
Park Shelter
I was sitting at the park bench thinking of an urban park that is like Noah’s ark. It offers shelter to loads of people. With pandemic restrictions in full swing people are most eager for an outlet of fun and so you see a place like Ramsden Park packed with people and dogs. One recent sign was posted saying, “Toronto: 2.8 million people. 230,000 dogs.” Sometimes it seems half of these canines are in this park. For passerby’s I was greeting them with a “Happy spring!”
“Oh, is it?” asked one guy. He thought about it. “Oh, yeah! That’s right! Happy spring.”
And then Gopal Singh brought over Ralph, who was scheduled to meet me. By the way, Gopal just got married. It took him a while. He married a beautiful girl from Hawaii. Kumari is her name. Congratulations!
Now Ralph and I sat down. He came from north of the city. Specifically, he came to see me with many questions regarding the practice of japa, mantra meditation. He takes it very seriously. That’s good to hear. I gave him some tips. The main thing is to approach it from the angle of humility. “Make a plea for help. That kind of spirit. I’m not worthy but I’m given the opportunity.”
Ralph was good to accompany me through the park. It’s true, I don’t feel full confidence on my own with my feeble legs as they are. Anyway, I got air this afternoon in Noah’s Ark. I got sun. I got a friend in the form of Ralph.
May the Source be with you!
